Just Dance VR

A Virtual Reality (VR) adaptation of the extremely popular Just Dance franchise for Meta Quest headsets, built in Unity. I worked on the project as an Experienced Programmer for a few months mainly focusing on Gameplay, UI and Tools. Here are some systems I implemented:

  • The player progression system - player levels, experience and rewards that are associated with each level. I also implemented the UI pages that used this progression system.

  • The player inventory system - the system that all the players items, rewards etc all rely upon.

  • Unity Editor tools to preview mp4 videos within editor windows and to match the preview with the live timing in a Timeline window.

  • Other Unity Editor tools to help convert from 2D Just Dance maps to full 3D virtual reality maps.

  • A python tool using OpenCV to automatically crop images images with minimal whitespace and to then rescale these images so they keep a consistent aspect ratio.
