The Misadventures of Giga and the Temple of Tanoka
Platform: Windows and PS VR
Technology: Unity, C#, Windows, Virtual Reality, Console Development, UI and Gameplay
The Misadventures of Giga and the Temple of Tanoka was my final group project at university. I was a programmer and the project manager for a team of 6 final year students and 3 second year students. We achieved a grade of 95% for this project and we won the award of “Best Group Project” at ComX 2020.
We originally developed the game for PS VR but had to switch the game to VR once covid hit and we were unable to go into university.
I was responsible for a large amount of features, here are some of the key ones:
The monkey mask. I used verlet integration to create the rope simulation that we used to allow the player to traverse across areas.
UI
In world hints
Level puzzles (such as the rotating door inside the cave)
PS VR integration when we were developing for PS VR
PS VR controller tracking. I also used the gyroscope to provide more information about the controller movement when outside of the tracked view.
